We’ll be joined by different animals on each day during the weekend. Get up close with some amazing creatures and learn more about them from the experts who care for them.\nSaturday 12 September: Animals Interactive\, 11am-2pm. (Sat only)\nGet hands-on with ten different species\, including an owl\, giant tortoise\, rabbits\, mice\, guinea pigs and lizards. Learn fascinating facts and meet some rare and unusual creatures up close.\nSunday 13 September: Amazing Alpacas\, 10am-4pm. (Sun only)\nMeet the friendly alpacas from their little Monmouthshire farm. Get up close\, handle them and perhaps even offer a few treats! \nThese animals encounters are free. Children must be supervised at all times. Hand washing facilities will be available.

SUMMARY:People's Emergency Briefing on Nature and Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Abergavenny District Churches Together and Abergavenny Fairtrade Forum are hosting a showing of the important Peoples Emergency Briefing Film followed by a 45 minute discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do. The film brings together 9 leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for extreme weather\, food security\, health and cost of living. At the end of the evening Fairtrade tea and coffee and biscuits or cakes will be available. The event is being held during Fairtrade Fortnight. Climate change is affecting us all but the poorest countries in the world are disproportionately affected despite making a lower contribution to carbon emissions. Many Fairtrade farmers have been adversely affected. We look forward to welcoming you to this event. Places are free but limited so please book now to ensure you have a place and remember to cancel if you can no longer attend so your place can be given to someone else.

DESCRIPTION:BMJ is delighted to host Roger Beaujolais’ Spin Quartet on our opening night of thewall2wall Jazz Festival!\nRoger is a player that one could look to in defining the word ‘virtuosic’; his ability is ferocious – but this doesn’t at all mean that he can’t also coax beautiful harmonies and sweet melodies from the instrument!\nHe is one of only a few vibes players that has really mastered the art of playing with four mallets. Roger’s ability on the vibraphone\, coupled with his consummate musicianship has led him to an international career which has been (and continues to be) both varied and prolific in its output.\nHis own projects have ranged from Acid Jazz to straight-ahead\, and he has been hired toper form or record with such diverse A-listers as Robert Plant\, Morrissey\, Kirsty MacColl and Snowboy. In the jazz field\, Roger has worked with almost everybody at the top of the UK jazz scene and currently leads a top-notch trio based in Italy.\nThis particular line up was born earlier this year\, at a sold out show at The Spin Jazz Club in Oxford\, Joining Roger for this performance will be Pete Oxley on Guitar (Hejira\, Oxley Meier Guitar Project)\, Andy Hamill on Bass (Laura Mvula\, Van Morrison)\, and Alex Goodyear on drums (Yetii\, Jon Lloyd\, John Law).

DESCRIPTION:We are excited to present the cream of the next generation Welsh Jazz talent – pianist Ross Hicks and\nsaxophonist Dan Newberry. Both are graduates of the RWCMD in Cardiff and are making names for\nthemselves in the wider jazz community.\nRoss Hicks embodies technical virtuosity\, emotional commitment and soulful intensity – swinging\nlike Oscar Peterson or grooving over the fiery Cuban songs by Buena Vista Social Club\, both major\ninfluences. His debut album Three Elms is out now on all streaming platforms.\nDan Newberry is one of the most in demand saxophonists in the area\, able to bring feel\, fire and\nfreshness to any project. Dancing from one idea to the next\, he is a chameleon equally at home\nplaying funk or over the most demanding contemporary Jazz and yet is still instantly identifiable as\nhimself. Dan’s debut album\, recorded in the Czech Republic last year is due for release soon.\nThey are joined by the regular BMJ house band of Jack Mac (saxes)\, Nick Kacal (double bass) and\nRyan Thrupp (drums) – also known as GinnTronic – the resident pop-jazz deconstructionists at Lab 22\nin Cardiff.\nJoin us for two sets of originals and standards that are sure to be swinging\, singing and delivering!

She is heavily influenced by the sounds of New Orleans and inspired by Louis Armstrong and Dr John\, as well as the story-telling of Nina Simone and Randy Newman. Her approach to composition\, story-telling and improvisation seamlessly bleed into one\, gleaming with conviction\, character and captivation.\nSince graduating from Leeds Conservatoire in 2023\, Olivia Cuttill has released two albums -her latest was ‘The Whole Damn Plan’ in 2024. The Guardian awarded the album four stars\, calling it “a gem… simple\, modest and perfect\,” while Iggy Pop described it as “unimaginably good” on his BBC Radio 6 Music show.\nAt the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to understatement\, space and emotional truth. Voice and guitar are given room to breathe\, allowing the songs to unfold with clarity and intimacy – qualities that have come to define their work together.\nJo Harrop is an award-winning singer\, songwriter and recording artist whose work effortlessly blurs the lines between jazz\, blues and soul\, with subtle influences of Americana\, folk and Latin music.\nHer discography includes ‘When Winter Turns To Spring’\, won Album of the Year at the 2023 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. DESCRIPTION:One of the UK’s most exciting guitarists\, Remi Harris is joined by double bassist Tom Moore and rhythm guitarist Chris Nesbitt to present an enthralling evening of Gypsy Jazz and Blues. Combining musical virtuosity with passion and flair\, this dynamic trio deliver a mesmerising show inspired by Django Reinhardt\, Peter Green\, Wes Montgomery\, Jimi Hendrix and Joe Pass. \nSince the age of seven\, Remi has dedicated himself to a life of guitar. His playing has taken him from busking on the streets of his local towns to performing at many prestigious events and venues including Buckingham Palace\, Montreal Jazz Festival\, BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with Jamie Cullum\, and on national radio and television. \nRemi has been performing with Tom Moore for over ten years\, during which time they have developed a remarkable musical affinity. Since graduating from The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2011 where he is currently based\, Tom has performed around the UK with a variety of bands and musical projects. Starting at a young age on guitar and quickly moving to bass\, he has appeared at high profile venues including the Royal Albert Hall and The North Sea Jazz Festival\, and more recently supporting Jools Holland. \nChris Nesbitt is a jazz and blues guitarist and teacher from Northern Ireland\, currently based in the South West. Since graduating from Bath Spa University – where he now lectures – Chris has performed with various groups across the UK\, playing gypsy jazz\, blues\, rock and RnB.
