DESCRIPTION:About\nScenery\, Prop\, Puppet\, Mask and costume making! The SCENIC ARTS! \nAges 12-18\, The Melville Centre\, Abergavenny. Sundays 2-5pm\, 10 weeks starting Sun Jan 18th. \n£5 per session\, bursaries available for low incomes. Please ask. \nThis class is focussed on learning how to build and make fantastic things for Theatre\, Film and TV. We’ll teach you how to use junk and recyclable materials as a base; willow framework to make creatures; papier mache and EVA foam for puppets\, masks and cosplay. \nWe’ll also look at basic carpentry\, scenery building techniques\, useful tools and materials that you can use to build up your skills. We’ll help kickstart you on a career in scenic production\, design and construction for the performing arts. \nLed by professional prop\, scenery and puppet makers\, Stuart H/ Bawler and Rhianna Yates of Hummadruz\, the Black-Light Theatre of Wales. \nSupported by Creative Futures

DESCRIPTION:Perfomance “The Way the Crow Flies” and Exhibition “Women’s Narratives”\nAt Dance Blast Studios\, Sunday March 8th\, 2pm – 6pm \nThe afternoon programme includes: \n\ntwo performances by MYCC\ntwo textile workshops\nthe exhibition with work from threads members Emma Bevan and Carol Kay\nThe Community Shawl documentary\n\nThe performance of The Way the Crow Flies is part of an exhibition of Women’s Narratives in celebration of International Women’s Day\, 2026. \nThe Way the Crow Flies\, 3.30pm & 5\,30pm\, is a contemporary circus performance and a modern folk story of the dressmakers \nBrought to you by Monmouthshire Youth Circus Company\, this performance is inspired by Kirstie Macloed’s Red Dress and stories of resilience from the threads community arts group ‘Resilience’ exhibition displayed at Theatr Brycheiniog in Sept 2025. \nWomen’s Narratives\, Dance Blast Abergavenny\, 2pm to 6pm\, March 8th 2026\n2pm to 5.30pm: Women’s Narratives Exhibition in studio 2\nThe Community Shawl Project documentary will be shown alongside two exhibits by Emma Bevan Henderson and Carol Kay from threads community arts group.\nEmma Bevan Henderson will be leading a community quilt textile workshop. Come along and make a square for the quilt. \n2pm doors open in Studio 2 for Women’s Narratives Exhibition\n2pm to 3.15 Community quilt workshop alongside the Women’s Narratives exhibition.
