Good Citizen Awards: Nominations Now Open!

Abergavenny Town Council is proud to announce the opening of nominations for the Good Citizen Awards. These awards aim to recognise the dedication and commitment of local individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the community.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for nomination, individuals must either be residents of or work within the Abergavenny Town Council area. Nominations can only be made by residents or those who work within the council area. Town Councillors are permitted to make nominations but will not be involved in the decision-making process. Additionally, existing Councillors and Town Council staff are ineligible for nomination.

Nominations:

Residents are invited to nominate individuals who they believe have made a significant contribution to the local community, whether through a specific action or over a longer period of time. Nominations can be made via application forms available at the Council office or downloaded from the link below. The nomination period will run from now until the 6th March to allow for consideration of nominations and final council decisions at the Full council meeting on the 13th March. The process will be managed by the Mayor, Principal Officer, and Chairs of Policy & Resources, People and Communities, and Environment Committees.

Decision Making:

Nominations will be reviewed by the Committee in March, with a recommendation made to the Full Council meeting. In the event of a significant number of nominations, a working group may be appointed to review them. Winners will be notified and invited to attend the Annual Town Council Community Dinner, where the presentation will be made by the Town Mayor. The Town Council reserves the right to make more than one award each year or to make no award if there are no suitable nominations.

Nominations are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the unsung heroes of our community. Let’s come together to celebrate their contributions and express our gratitude for their efforts in making Abergavenny a better place for all.
