Are you a motivated individual looking for temporary work and interested in learning more about local elections? Monmouthshire’s Elections Team wants YOU!

They are currently recruiting enthusiastic staff to work at polling stations during upcoming elections. Polling station staff play a crucial role in ensuring voting procedures are correctly followed and the smooth running of the electoral process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and preparing the polling station for voting
  • Assisting voters and ensuring they follow voting procedures
  • Closing the polling station and ensuring all ballots are securely stored
  • All staff employed to work at a polling station will receive comprehensive training before taking up their appointment. Roles available include Presiding Officer, who has main responsibility for managing the polling station, and Poll Clerk(s) who support them.

Abergavenny Town Council Mayor Anne Wilde, commented, “Working at a polling station is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in local democracy and make a meaningful contribution to our community.
