Abergavenny Picnic in the Park Brings Community Together

Monday 25th August saw over 250 people gather in Bailey Park for a wonderful Picnic in the Park event, hosted by Abergavenny Town Council. The free event brought residents together for an afternoon of fun, music, and community spirit.

In a special musical interlude, Mayor Philip Bowyer presented Judith Vicary, Chair of Friends of Bailey Park, with a cheque generously donated by Abergavenny Town Council to support the purchase of new Play Panels for the children’s playground.

These Play Panels will give very young children the chance to enjoy sensory experiences that help develop language, problem-solving, and social skills.

This funding adds to the generous contributions from Abergavenny Rotary Club and the closing balance of the former Lido Group—whose wish was that their funds be used to bring fresh enjoyment and opportunities to children in Abergavenny and beyond.

With the support of Monmouthshire County Council, the installation of this exciting new equipment is eagerly anticipated in the near future.

Abergavenny Town Council would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. With such a great turnout, residents are encouraged to save the date for next year’s Picnic in the Park!
