Abergavenny Celebrates Mayor Bryony Nicholson at Civic Ceremony

Abergavenny Town Council would like to thank everyone who joined us at the Borough Theatre on Sunday 30th August for the Mayor’s Civic Ceremony, celebrating the installation of Cllr Bryony Nicholson as Mayor of Abergavenny for 2026–27.

It was wonderful to welcome residents, community representatives, invited guests and dignitaries to such a special occasion and particularly lovely to look up into the balcony of the Borough Theatre and see so many members of the public who had come along to share in the celebration.

The ceremony featured a fantastic programme of speeches, music, readings and performances, reflecting both Abergavenny’s strong sense of community and some of the themes that will be important during Cllr Nicholson’s year as Mayor.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the speakers, performers and organisations who contributed to the ceremony and helped make the afternoon so memorable.

The programme included an address from Youth Representative Mia Morris, alongside contributions on Women in Leadership from High Sheriff of Gwent Shereen Williams MBE and Catherine Fookes MP. Guests also enjoyed performances from Maryna Korolova and members of Dance Blast, as well as readings from representatives of Abergavenny Town of Sanctuary.

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognise the three organisations that Cllr Nicholson will be supporting during her year as Mayor.

Abergavenny Town Council would like to take this opportunity to wish Mayor Bryony Nicholson a wonderful and successful year ahead. We look forward to seeing her out and about across Abergavenny, supporting the organisations, volunteers, businesses and residents who contribute so much to our town.
