Reflecting on a Remarkable Weekend of Remembrance in Abergavenny

Abergavenny Town Council extends heartfelt gratitude to the community for an incredible turnout and a display of unparalleled unity during the Remembrance Sunday events this past weekend.

The weekend witnessed an overwhelming demonstration of community spirit, with residents coming together to honour and remember those who made ultimate sacrifices for our freedom.

The turnout exceeded our expectations, and the sight of Abergavenny’s streets adorned with poppies and filled with a diverse assembly of people paying their respects was truly moving.

Various events and ceremonies unfolded seamlessly, throughout the weekend reflecting the deep respect and appreciation within our community for the significance of Remembrance.

As we stood together in solemn remembrance, we collectively reinforced the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.

For those who were unable to attend or wish to relive the poignant moments, we invite you to watch the special video capturing the essence of the tributes.

Abergavenny Town Council remains inspired by the enduring spirit of unity displayed by our community during this important occasion. We extend our thanks to all who participated and invite everyone to continue honouring the memory of our fallen heroes throughout the year.

Mayor of Abergavenny, Cllr Anne Wilde, said, ?It was moving to see how many people turned out in the rain to commemorate those who had died to preserve the freedoms, we enjoy.  Also to see the diversity of organisations, ages and ethnicities of those paying their respects.  It was particularly poignant this year as we are saddened by the loss of so many lives to violence across the world.  My thanks go to those who organised and stewarded to make this such a special and dignified event in our local calendar.?
