Christmas Lights Switch-On

Join us in Abergavenny for an afternoon of festive entertainment, music and celebrations as we get ready to switch on the town’s Christmas lights!
With performances taking place throughout the town centre, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festive atmosphere before the big switch-on.
Christmas Light Switch-On Programme
3.00pm – Entertainment outside the Town Hall
Festive entertainment begins outside Abergavenny Town Hall.
3.30pm – Rock Choir at Abergavenny Market
The Mayor meets Rock Choir on the mezzanine at Abergavenny Market as they begin their performance.
4.00pm – The Mayor’s Journey Begins
The Mayor leaves Abergavenny Market, walking through the Market Hall as Rock Choir perform, before heading onto Frogmore Street.
4.00pm–4.20pm – Choirs for Good
Enjoy a performance from Choirs for Good on Frogmore Street, outside The Gallery, as they welcome the Mayor.
4.15pm–4.45pm – Tenovus Choir
The Tenovus Choir performs at Cibi Walk.
4.40pm–5.10/5.20pm – Borough Band
Enjoy festive music from Abergavenny Borough Band at St John’s Square.
4.45pm – The Mayor Travels to St John’s Square
The Mayor travels from Cibi Walk to St John’s Square by Bridges Trishaw Bike.
5.10pm – The Festive Journey Continues
The Mayor returns to Bon Marche to collect the sleigh before travelling to the Town Hall.
5.20pm–5.50pm – Entertainment with AM Discos
Join AM Discos outside the Town Hall for music, party dances and the final Christmas lights switch-on celebrations.
5.30pm – Christmas Lights Switch-On!
The final lights switch-on takes place at Cross Street.
Christmas Market Returns
Get into the festive spirit as the Abergavenny Christmas Market returns on Saturday 5th December!
The town centre will be filled with Christmas cheer, with traders lining Nevill Street, St John’s Square, Frogmore Street and Cross Street, offering a wonderful opportunity to browse, shop and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
Alongside the Christmas Market, our regular Saturday Market will also be taking place, giving visitors even more to explore.

Get ready for a fantastic festive spectacle as Border Counties Vintage Club & Friends return to Abergavenny!
Watch as tractors and other vehicles, decked out in twinkling Christmas lights, parade through the streets of our town, spreading festive cheer and raising money for some fantastic causes.
Whether you’re taking part or coming along to watch, it’s a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit!
