International Women’s Day Show

Perfomance “The Way the Crow Flies” and Exhibition “Women’s Narratives”

At Dance Blast Studios, Sunday March 8th, 2pm – 6pm

The afternoon programme includes:

  • two performances by MYCC
  • two textile workshops
  • the exhibition with work from threads members Emma Bevan and Carol Kay
  • The Community Shawl documentary

The performance of The Way the Crow Flies is part of an exhibition of Women’s Narratives in celebration of International Women’s Day, 2026.

The Way the Crow Flies, 3.30pm & 5,30pm, is a contemporary circus performance and a modern folk story of the dressmakers

Brought to you by Monmouthshire Youth Circus Company, this performance is inspired by Kirstie Macloed’s Red Dress and stories of resilience from the threads community arts group ‘Resilience’ exhibition displayed at Theatr Brycheiniog in Sept 2025.

Women’s Narratives, Dance Blast Abergavenny, 2pm to 6pm, March 8th 2026
2pm to 5.30pm: Women’s Narratives Exhibition in studio 2
The Community Shawl Project documentary will be shown alongside two exhibits by Emma Bevan Henderson and Carol Kay from threads community arts group.
Emma Bevan Henderson will be leading a community quilt textile workshop. Come along and make a square for the quilt.

2pm doors open in Studio 2 for Women’s Narratives Exhibition
2pm to 3.15 Community quilt workshop alongside the Women’s Narratives exhibition. (Donations please)
3.30pm: MYCC performance in the Carlson Studio: The Way the Crow Flies
4pm-5.15: Community Quilt workshop, alongside the exhibition (Donations please)
5.30pm: MYCC performance in Carlson Studio: The Way the Crow Flies.
