End of WWI Events

Poppy yarnbombing meeting took place on 4th June with a number of craft groups coming on board. A number of actions will be taken forward as a result of that meeting. A follow up meeting will take place on Monday 9th July.

WWI Play Still awaiting confirmation from MCC as to whether they would waive the costs of hire of the Borough Theatre and Corn Exchange. It is important that a decision is made very shortly as there needs to be sufficient rehearsal time. The Borough Theatre is available first two weeks of October or 12/13/14 November. Given the delays in arranging funding it was considered that the November dates would be more suitable.

There is an opportunity to apply for funding for silhouettes from There But Not There but a requirement of the funding is that a self-funded event is arranged. The Town Clerk is in discussions with the ATC Squadron & Rev Mark Soady.

Battles Over – Lighting a Beacon 11th November

The Town Council has signed up to lighting of a beacon on the Blorenge at 7pm on 11th November. Councillors felt that asking dignitaries to walk on the Blorenge in November would not be appropriate therefore a short service in view of the Blorenge on St Johns Square to be considered. ATC to be approached regarding lighting of the Beacon

Arrangements for Christmas Light Switch-On

Town centre businesses should be more involved with the Christmas light switch-on. Having a later switch on and a Christmas market were suggestions to discuss with the traders. Also a suggestion of projecting images on the Angel Hotel and Choirs.

There was a note of caution that Matt Lane and Mr & Mrs Sharland may not be able to help out if it was a later time.
