MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 11th APRIL 2018 AFTER THE COUNCIL MEETING IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER, TOWN HALL, ABERGAVENNY.

2. Declarations of Interest were received from Cllr R Harris.
Cllr R Harris is a member of MCC Planning Committee. He took no part in the decision making and voting on these items and acted, where required, in a factual advisory capacity.
3. The following applications were recommended for approval
DM/2018/00527 – Single storey extension at 23a Lower Castle Street
DM/2018/00358 – Move sign & fit lights at Gurka Corner Restaurant
DC/2018/00202 – New opening in party wall 18 &19 Frogmore Street
DM/2018/00559 – Demolition of existing rear sunroom and erection of single storey rear extension at 19 Chapel Road
4. Any other business.
Planning Advisory Panel – Cllr G Jones asked about whether the establishment of a Town Council Planning Advisory Panel will be progressed. The Town Clerk reiterated that this would be looked out in the context of Standing Orders and future Terms of Reference for Committees and Co-option Policy.
A more general discussion took place on how Town Councillors could increase their knowledge of planning and how they can work more closely with MCC Planners particularly on the LDP review and pre-application consultations.
It was agreed to:
- Invite Mark Hand, Head of Planning, MCC to a future Planning Committee
- Town Clerk to circulate the WLGA Planning Handbook
- Town Clerk to contact Planning Aid Wales to enquire about the cost of a training course for Councillors.
