MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2018 AFTER THE COUNCIL MEETING, COUNCIL CHAMBER, TOWN HALL, ABERGAVENNY.

2. Declarations of Interest

Cllr R Harris is a member of MCC Planning Committee. He took no part in the decision making and voting and acted, where required, in a factual advisory capacity.

3. Councillors expressed their ongoing concern that the views of the Town Council are not being given appropriate consideration by MCC. As a result, it was agreed that the Town Council will send, when possible, a representative to address planning committee on controversial applications. Cllr Hickman proposed and Cllr Jones seconded that this should where possible be Cllr Konieczny, vote carried unanimously.

The following applications were recommended for approval

DM/2018/01887 Refurbishment of existing cottage including conversion of storage buildings to domestic accommodation at Chapel Fam House, Pentre Road, Abergavenny, NP7 7BE

DM/2018/01909 Open sided, roofed pavilion with hard surfacing at Abergavenny Museum & Castle, Abergavenny, NP7 5EE

DM/2018/01937 Car wash operations at Castle Meadows Park, Abergavenny, NP7 7RZ

The following application DM/2018/01950 EIA Screening Request for proposed residential development on land at Penlanlas Farm, Abergavenny, NP7 6AZ

is outside of the boundary of Abergavenny Town Council. 

However, a development of this size will have a significant impact on the town. The Town Council requests that the visual impact of the development, proximity to the BBNP and the impact of new development on the existing infrastructure in the town is adequately addressed in the EIA.
