Richard has lived in Abergavenny for 48 years and has witnessed the town grow and evolve while retaining its strong sense of identity and history. He has worked within the community in roles including lifeguard and firefighter, and also owned and run a local printing business for ten years, giving him a strong understanding of both public service and local enterprise.
Deeply protective of Abergavenny and its heritage, Richard is an honorary member of Round Table and helped create the Abergavenny Music Festival. He is a passionate advocate for mental health, particularly autism, which led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Psychology and continue developing a career in counselling.
Outside of his professional and community commitments, Richard sings with the award-winning a cappella choir Synergy and performs in a Blues Brothers tribute act. He enjoys reading, writing, and music, and remains actively involved in the cultural life of Abergavenny.
